Experience Hitoyoshi

Timeless charm in Hitoyoshi

Kajiyamachi is a charming district that vividly preserves the atmosphere of the castle town of Hitoyoshi, with its cobblestone streets and rows of white-walled merchant houses. During the era of the Sagara Domain, this area was lined with numerous blacksmiths who crafted blades, firearms, and farming tools, serving as the backbone of the region’s prosperity.

Today, while you can still feel the charm of its rich history, the street is lined with local tea shops, miso and soy sauce breweries, and a popular shop selling flower-shaped ohagi. You can also sample 10 varieties of Japanese tea, try your hand at making matcha, take a rickshaw ride through the town, or experience the atmosphere of the past by wearing a traditional kimono. Please enjoy a special moment where the past and present intersect in Kajiya-machi, where time flows slowly.
